Wolves, welcome to the Pack! We are going to keep you plenty busy and productive by working hard to earn our Wolf Badge. But don’t worry, we will also have a lot of fun along the way! The Wolf trail contains 12 achievement areas which are further broken down into 74 different tracks. To earn the Wolf badge, the scout needs to complete all 12 achievements, but only 58 of these tracks – so there are some options. All of these can be found in your Wolf Handbook or on ScoutTrack.
After he completes his first 3 achievements, the scout will be recognized by getting the Progress Toward Ranks badge with one yellow bead attached. For every three more achievements he completes, he will get another bead. Once all 12 are done, he will have earned his Wolf Badge.
After earning the Wolf Badge, the scout may earn arrow points by
completing electives. There are 23 elective topics that might interest your son. To earn a Gold Arrow Point, a boy must complete 10 electives. For every additional 10 elective points he earns, a silver arrow point will be earned.
And don't forget, belt loops and pins can be earned anytime at any Cub Scout level. All these can be found in your Wolf Handbook as well as on ScoutTrack.com.
Parents, as you know, cub scouting relies heavily on family involvement and while we will be working on many of these achievements in Den Meetings and on outings, most of them still need to be done at home with a family member. This is one of the great benefits of scouting because it provides opportunities for you and your son to work together towards goals and achievements and teaches our boys many valuable life lessons along the way.
Don't forget: While your scout is working on advancements, you can track his progress on ScoutTrack. This online tracking tool is very easy to use and understand. In order for your scout to be recognized for any achievement earned, all completed requirements for the month must be entered in no later than the Sunday prior to the next Pack Meeting. Also, if a scout completes a requirement at home, he should be prepared to share what he has done or learned at the next den or Pack meeting.
We are looking forward to a great Cub Scouting year. If you have any questions, please feel free to email your Den Leader anytime.
