The Tiger Cub program is for first-grade (or age 6) boys and their adult partners.

Important Note: Before the boys can begin working on the Tiger Cub rank, they must earn the Bobcat Badge first.

Then, in order to earn the Tiger Cub rank the Tiger Cub Scout must complete a Family Activity, a Den Activity, and a "Go See It" Activity in each of five Achievement Areas:

  1. Making My Family Special
  2. Where I Live
  3. Keeping Myself Healthy and Safe
  4. How I Tell It
  5. Let's Go Outdoors

As he completes each Activity, he is awarded a bead which is hung from the Totem.  The Totem will be awarded when his first bead is earned and the totem is worn on his Class A uniform over the right breast pocket.

  • He earns a WHITE bead for each required FAMILY Activity.
  • He earns an ORANGE bead for each required DEN Activity.
  • He earns a BLACK bead for each required GO SEE IT Activity.

These requirements consist of an exciting series of indoor and outdoor activities just right for a boy in the first grade.

Also, after completing the achievements, the Tiger Cub can be awarded Tiger Track Beads, which are YELLOW disks attached to the Totem.  One bead is awarded for each group of TEN Electives the Tiger Cub completes.  A boy can work on both Achievements and electives concurrently, but he can't receive Tiger Track beads until he has earned the Tiger Cub Badge.

Parents, did you know a Tiger Den relies on the support and enthusiasm of its families? Each adult partner should sign up to lead at least one month's meeting and one Go See It outing. This shared leadership helps ensure participation by all, provides a sense of ownership to all, and gives each scout a chance to work on leadership skills - skills that he will work on all the way through Eagle Scout.

And don't forget, belt loops and pins can be earned anytime at any Cub Scout level. All these can be found in your Wolf Handbook as well as on ScoutTrack.com

Tip
: While your scout is working on advancements, you can track his progress on
ScoutTrack. This online tracking tool is very easy to use and understand.  In order for your scout to be recognized for any achievement earned, all completed requirements for the month must be entered in no later than the Sunday prior to the next Pack Meeting.

Again, we are looking forward to a great Cub Scouting year.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email your Den Leader anytime.
