Pinewood Derby

Pinewood Derby Race Day

Called one of the most celebrated rites of spring by Reader’s Digest, the Pinewood Derby has been an annual tradition for the Boy Scouts of America since 1953.  It combines creativity, skill and physics into the most fun you can have with gravity. Pinewood derby cars are small wooden models that Cub Scouts make from just a block of pine and four plastic wheels.  Scouts, with the help of their family, are encouraged to be creative and let their imaginations run wild. Once built, they then race the cars in competition.

Before building your pinewood derby car, please take time to familiarize yourself with the official rules.  We'd hate to have to disqualify any car on race day.
